Don’t Lose Hope is the result of my 20-year love affair with playing fantasy football.
The smack talk and pranks that populate the DLH world were commonplace in several of the leagues in which I played. For the ultra-competitive these are like gravy poured over the big plate of cheese fries that is the actual game itself.
I have also played in a few more sedate, business-like, get-in-set-your-lineup and get out type leagues with little to no interaction. For me, these were always more about perfecting the technique and testing theories than they were about having fun.
The one thing I am proud to say is that, unlike Frank, I have played in several leagues in which women not only competed, but often won. In fact, I have been beaten by my wife several times in a couple of leagues.
DLH was born out of a desire to explore the amazing popularity fantasy football has enjoyed over the past two decades. It is certainly not a how-to. No one will become an expert by watching, that was not the intent.
What I hope is that those who have never joined a league will get a very narrow glimpse into some of the joy playing the game can bring.
I am also firmly in Papa Ed’s camp in the belief that reasoned conversation and negotiation, not the outcome of a fantasy game, is a prudent course in determining the outcome of anything of consequence.
My plan is to market the screenplay to as wide an audience as possible in order to find representation and ultimately to have a studio take on the project.
Whether you are fan of television comedies, fantasy football or family dramas, you should find the series enjoyable. If you think that might be the case, I would truly appreciate your help. Please share this site with anyone who might be in a position to move it along that path. A follow on the series Facebook and Instagram would also be helpful.
